yes, a picnic basket! You see the beautiful NEW 4 person picnic basket that my beautiful daughter, Skyla found for me at TK Max was just not going to cut it!
Ebay here comes Claire on a mission . . .
First basket I REALLY wanted went up to £38.50 and I thought that was a bit much but it was the PERFECT picnic basket . . . and I didn't increase my bid - so sad!
Next I went to large vintage baskets forgetting about and F&M branded basket, and soon a very large picnic basket was delivered by Royal Mail for £17 it is beautiful but new and not one of those really well make vintage picnic baskets but I loved it.
Little did Lance know that I already had bids on three others . . .
The post man knocked on the door with another two large boxes - Lance raised his eyebrow - yes girls, Daddy can do it too! And what is in these boxes?
A vintage oddly shaped basket that both Lance and I LOVE for only £9.99! And an F&M medium sized picnic basket the most expensive purchase at £38.50 (no, not the original one I wanted!) and the one that I will only use for just the two of us! Major disappointment as the upright one with the open sides was just not going to be big enough on it's own.
The next bid I already knew I had on was for a collection in Abergavenney, now how was I going to wangle a trip out there? I won the bid and for £15 I knew this was the one. The lady selling contacted me with a telephone number to ring to arrange collections - in conversation I said any day this week except Wednesday as I knew I was going for blood tests. She mentioned Thursday wasn't good as she was going to Fontygary - but that is just down the road from Llantwit - IDEAL! So off we went today, yes, Lance knew what is was for - I really am married to a saint!
We collected a large basket - Lance even said WOW that is too big, how the hell am I going to carry it! But you see, it has a handle on either side for two to carry it!
We have the basket, and we have the t-towels . . .
and we have the sparkly white chocolate cookies . . .
and we have our favourite M&S chocolate biscuits . . .
and we have shortbread in a very special tin . . .
Joined by the cupcake kit ready for Skyla to start baking on Saturday.
Bunting, loads of it!
Jessie even has a lovely collar to match everything!
Now what elese will make it into this picnic basket for Monday!
Well, I am praying for a dry day, a beautiful place, lots of laughter, some bubbly, elderflower juice, PIMMS and lemonade, pork pies, scotch eggs, Lance's new Indian potato bake Lemon and Chilli bites, the special Jubilee red, white and blue M&Ms, freshly made mini square sandwiches, Skyla's cup cakes, jelly babies, fresh rolls and a mini BBQ for wors, satsuma's fresh from the market on Saturday, American hard gums, our matching paper plates and napkins, the cutest salt and pepper cellars, Chinese Lanterns to set off with our wishes, our picnic blankets, a flask of tea, M&S teacakes, my camera . . .
Can you think of anything else . . .
Watch this space . . . but don't worry, there are no more picnic baskets coming into my house!
